Gulløven til Richard Rogers
Styret i Venezia-biennalen har besluttet å tildele Lord Richard Rogers Gulløven i forbindelse med den 10. arkitekturbiennalen 10. september-19. november 2006.

Rogers, for øvrig italienskfødt i Firenze i 1933, får denne utmerkelsen for "lifetime achievement". Biennalens styre begrunner tildelingen blant annet med hans sterke engasjement for byen:
"Rogers has a distinguished career as architect and is responsible for some of the most iconic buildings of the last twenty five years including the Centre Pompidou in Paris (with Renzo Piano) and Lloyd's of London. His career has been driven by a passion for cities as an architect, urbanist, adviser and author, promoting the importance of architecture in making cities more sustainable and equitable in the context of a rapidly urbanising world."
Rogers mottar løven på biennalens åpningsdag 10. september. Biennalens øvrige priser, deriblant ytterligere tre løver, vil bli utdelt 8. november.
